I started this series working on my surrealist portraiture, but as I started experimenting I found that I could make these almost nonsense images. As I was editing I felt that they started looking less and less reality based and more fluid. I decided to expand on this idea for my final project. I wanted to explore the feeling of a slow descent into chaos. That feeling where you know that something is off, but you only realize what's wrong once you're already sucked in.

For the first series Fuge, the edges are smoother and there is an extra level of attentiveness to blend the layers together to feel more whole. I kept changes smaller hoping to capture a dream-like feeling. seemingly unaware of the changes around, with a brighter exposure and a distant feeling subject.

For the second series Limit, the pieces are less about the portraiture and more about the surroundings. The tone starts to get darker and the color more purposeful, indicative of crossing the threshold from the dream-like state into a more surreal based reality.

For the third series Corse, it brings the attention back to portraiture. I bring it back to portraiture to try and push further than surreal based reality and into a meltdown of the physical form. The tone is very dark now and the use of contrast, blending, and color help to cement the mood.

For the fourth and final series Bend, I bring all of these ideas together into visual chaos. As if the psyche has eroded away and you are now existing in a total disassociation. Reality is no longer important in this series as all meaning and form wash away in pandemonium.
